Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2012

Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in the last league game of the Asia Cup at the Shere-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on March 20, 2012.

The news from the Bangladesh team is that, they will be without their seamer Shafiul Islam, who is out for 10 days with a shoulder injury.

The squads are as below:

Bangladesh (Probable): 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Nazimuddin, 3 Jahurul Islam, 4 Nasir Hossain, 5 Shakib Al Hasan, 6 Mushfiqur Rahim, 7 Mahmudullah, 8 Mashrafe Mortaza, 9 Abdur Razzak, 10 Nazmul Hossain, 11 Shahadat Hossain.

Sri Lanka (Probable): 1 Mahela Jayawardene, 2 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 3 Kumar Sangakkara, 4 Dinesh Chandimal, 5 Lahiru Thirimanne, 6 Upul Tharanga, 7 Farveez Maharoof, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 9 Seekkuge Prasanna, 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Suranga Lakmal.

Sri Lanka has been already knocked out of the Asia Cup 2012, but they might also ruin Bangladesh’s chances of making it to the finals.

Sri Lanka have been dealt a blow as their all-rounder Angelo Mathews was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a calf injury. Shaminda Eranga, the fast-bowling all-rounder has been picked to replace him.

In order for Bangladesh to reach the finals, they have to beat Sri Lanka. If Sri Lanka wins, Pakistan will face India in the finals.

Millions of Indian cricket fans will be praying for a Sri Lankan victory when the islanders take on hosts Bangladesh on Tuesday in their last league match, the result of which will determine India’s fate in the Asia Cup cricket tournament.

If Sri Lanka win, India will go into the final but a defeat for the islanders will ensure that Bangladesh take on Pakistan in the title clash on Thursday.

As per the rules of the tournament, if two teams are tied on points, head-to-head record will be considered, so Bangladesh will go into the final as they had beaten India in their league match.

Going by the form of both the teams, Bangladesh would back themselves to register another upset win in the tournament.

Very important WordPress Plugins

Very important for SEO WordPress Plugins :

(1) HeadSpace (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/seo-slugs/)
(2) SEO Slugs (http://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/headspace2/)
(3) Twitter real time search scrolling (http://gopi.coolpage.biz/demo/2009/08/10/scroll-twitter-realtime-search/)
(4) FollowMe (http://wpburn.com/wordpress-plugins/wp-followme-plugin)
(5) SEO Friendly Images (http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins/seo-friendly-images)
(6) Yoast Breadcrumbs (http://yoast.com/wordpress/breadcrumbs/)
(7) Meta Robots WordPress plugin (http://yoast.com/wordpress/meta-robots-wordpress-plugin/)

WordPress SEO

The most important steps when you develop a wordpress site.

Permalinks: The first thing I need to change is permalink structure. This is under Settings -> Permalinks. The default permalink is ?p=<postid>, But is not good for SEO. So I prefer to use custom structure  /%category%/%postname%/

Optimize My Titles: By default, the title for your blog posts is “Blog title » Blog Archive » Rich post title”. But I find a important think i.e Search engines put more weight on the early words, so if my keywords are near the start of the page title it may rank well. Another think is that people scanning result pages see the early words first. If your keywords are at the start of my listing my page is more likely to get clicked on. I check your header.php though, and make sure that the code for wp_title(); contains two quotes, so it looks like this: wp_title(’ ‘);. This makes sure I have absolute control over the title and don’t have any annoying separator in there. The address url is editable for every individual post, pages. I edit the address url for every post and page. I put the rich keyword in the address url.

Optimize My Descriptions: Give each category a decent description, and I use HeadSpace to add that description to the meta description, by adding %%category_description%% in the Description field. After that, write a description for each post or page that I actually want to rank with.
[Auto generating descriptions is not good for SEO, most plugins pick the first sentence, which might be an introductory sentence which has hardly anything to do with the subject, or another sentence with a keyword in it, which might be completely wrong to pick as description. Thus, the only well written description is a hand written one]

Optimize the More text: One of the good featuer of HeadSpace is that I can use it to optimize the more text, I can replace the default “Read more” link with something meaningful for every post. It’s small things like that, that make my site SEO the best.
Image Optimization: Give a good name of the image files and writing good alt tags for images, it can get a bit of extra traffic from the different image search engines.
[ If I have a lot of images in my site it is time consuming to write alt tags for each and every images for this we can use a plugins name SEO Friendly Images (http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins/seo-friendly-images) it can automatically add image’s alt and title tag]

Use Twitter: Twitter is a social networking site. Almost all the “cool” people are on there, and they read their tweets more often than they read their e-mail, I use Follow me, and Twitter Updater plugins to give a test of the site browser.

Noindex:
I Install my robots Meta plugin, and make sure the settings prevent indexing of all unnecessary  pages.
Speed Up WordPress:  A very important factor in how many pages a search engine will spider on my blog each day, is how speedy your blog loads. I use WP Super Cache Plugins to speed up wordpress. It Optimize the template to do as small an amount of database calls as necessary.

Some of SEO Best practices:
Conversion optimization: It is good for SEO to have a option that people will subscribe, either by e-mail or by RSS. BIG RSS subscribe button is very important, as is offering a way to subscribe by e-mail.

Nofollowing links: This is a important step to increase your WordPress SEO is to stop linking to my login and registration pages from each and every page on my blog. The same goes for RSS feeds, subscribe by e-mail link, etc. Robots Meta has an option to nofollow all your login and registration links. You’ll probably have to go into your RSS links and nofollow those by hand.

List only folder in a given path by php

getDirectory(’../templates’);

function getDirectory( $path = ‘.’, $level = 0 )
{
// Directories to ignore when listing output.
$ignore = array( ‘.’, ‘..’ );

// Open the directory to the handle $dh
$dh = @opendir( $path );

// Loop through the directory
while( false !== ( $file = readdir( $dh ) ) )
{
// Check that this file is not to be ignored
if( !in_array( $file, $ignore ) )
{
// Indent spacing for better view
$spaces = str_repeat( ‘&nbsp;’, ( $level * 5 ) );

// Show directories only
if(is_dir( “$path/$file” ) )
{
// Re-call this same function but on a new directory.
// this is what makes function recursive.
echo “$spaces<a href=’$path/$file/index.php’>$file</a><br />”;
getDirectory( “$path/$file”, ($level+1) );
}
}
}
// Close the directory handle
closedir( $dh );

Website Testing Checklist

 Web testing checklist:
1) Functionality Testing
2) Usability testing
3) Interface testing
4) Compatibility testing
5) Performance testing
6) Security testing

1) Functionality Testing:

Test for – all the links in web pages, database connection, forms used in the web pages for submitting or getting information from user, Cookie testing.

Check all the links:

  • Test the outgoing links from all the pages from specific domain under test.
  • Test all internal links.
  • Test links jumping on the same pages.
  • Test links used to send the email to admin or other users from web pages.
  • Test to check if there are any orphan pages.
  • Lastly in link checking, check for broken links in all above-mentioned links.

Test forms in all pages:
Forms are the integral part of any web site. Forms are used to get information from users and to keep interaction with them. So what should be checked on these forms?

  • First check all the validations on each field.
  • Check for the default values of fields.
  • Wrong inputs to the fields in the forms.
  • Options to create forms if any, form delete, view or modify the forms.

Each sign up step is different but dependent on other steps. So sign up flow should get executed correctly. There are different field validations like email Ids, User financial info validations. All these validations should get checked in manual or automated web testing.

Cookies testing:
Cookies are small files stored on user machine. These are basically used to maintain the session mainly login sessions. Test the application by enabling or disabling the cookies in your browser options. Test if the cookies are encrypted before writing to user machine. If you are testing the session cookies (i.e. cookies expire after the sessions ends) check for login sessions and user stats after session end. Check effect on application security by deleting the cookies. (I will soon write separate article on cookie testing)

Validate your HTML/CSS:
If you are optimizing your site for Search engines then HTML/CSS validation is very important. Mainly validate the site for HTML syntax errors. Check if site is crawlable to different search engines.

Database testing:
Data consistency is very important in web application. Check for data integrity and errors while you edit, delete, modify the forms or do any DB related functionality.
Check if all the database queries are executing correctly, data is retrieved correctly and also updated correctly. More on database testing could be load on DB, we will address this in web load or performance testing below.

2) Usability Testing:

Test for navigation:
Navigation means how the user surfs the web pages, different controls like buttons, boxes or how user using the links on the pages to surf different pages.
Usability testing includes:
Web site should be easy to use. Instructions should be provided clearly. Check if the provided instructions are correct means whether they satisfy purpose.
Main menu should be provided on each page. It should be consistent.

Content checking:
Content should be logical and easy to understand. Check for spelling errors.
Content should be meaningful. All the anchor text links should be working properly. Images should be placed properly with proper sizes.
These are some basic standards that should be followed in web development. Your task is to validate all for UI testing

Other user information for user help:
Like search option, sitemap, help files etc. Sitemap should be present with all the links in web sites with proper tree view of navigation. Check for all links on the sitemap.
“Search in the site” option will help users to find content pages they are looking for easily and quickly. These are all optional items and if present should be validated.

3) Interface Testing:
The main interfaces are:
Web server and application server interface
Application server and Database server interface.

Check if all the interactions between these servers are executed properly. Errors are handled properly. If database or web server returns any error message for any query by application server then application server should catch and display these error messages appropriately to users. Check what happens if user interrupts any transaction in-between? Check what happens if connection to web server is reset in between?

4) Compatibility Testing:
Compatibility of your web site is very important testing aspect. See which compatibility test to be executed:

  • Browser compatibility
  • Operating system compatibility
  • Mobile browsing
  • Printing options

Browser compatibility:
In my web-testing career I have experienced this as most influencing part on web site testing.
Some applications are very dependent on browsers. Different browsers have different configurations and settings that your web page should be compatible with. Your web site coding should be cross browser platform compatible. If you are using java scripts or AJAX calls for UI functionality, performing security checks or validations then give more stress on browser compatibility testing of your web application.
Test web application on different browsers like Internet explorer, Firefox, Netscape navigator, AOL, Safari, Opera browsers with different versions.

OS compatibility:
Some functionality in your web application is may not be compatible with all operating systems. All new technologies used in web development like graphics designs, interface calls like different API’s may not be available in all Operating Systems.
Test your web application on different operating systems like Windows, Unix, MAC, Linux, Solaris with different OS flavors.

Mobile browsing:
This is new technology age. So in future Mobile browsing will rock. Test your web pages on mobile browsers. Compatibility issues may be there on mobile.

Printing options:
If you are giving page-printing options then make sure fonts, page alignment, page graphics getting printed properly. Pages should be fit to paper size or as per the size mentioned in printing option.

5) Performance testing:
Web application should sustain to heavy load. Web performance testing should include:
Web Load Testing
Web Stress Testing

Test application performance on different internet connection speed.
In web load testing test if many users are accessing or requesting the same page. Can system sustain in peak load times? Site should handle many simultaneous user requests, large input data from users, Simultaneous connection to DB, heavy load on specific pages etc.

Stress testing: Generally stress means stretching the system beyond its specification limits. Web stress testing is performed to break the site by giving stress and checked how system reacts to stress and how system recovers from crashes.
Stress is generally given on input fields, login and sign up areas.

In web performance testing web site functionality on different operating systems, different hardware platforms is checked for software, hardware memory leakage errors,

6) Security Testing:

Following are some test cases for web security testing:

  • Test by pasting internal url directly into browser address bar without login. Internal pages should not open.
  • If you are logged in using username and password and browsing internal pages then try changing url options directly. I.e. If you are checking some publisher site statistics with publisher site ID= 123. Try directly changing the url site ID parameter to different site ID which is not related to logged in user. Access should denied for this user to view others stats.
  • Try some invalid inputs in input fields like login username, password, input text boxes. Check the system reaction on all invalid inputs.
  • Web directories or files should not be accessible directly unless given download option.
  • Test the CAPTCHA for automates scripts logins.
  • Test if SSL is used for security measures. If used proper message should get displayed when user switch from non-secure http:// pages to secure https:// pages and vice versa.
  • All transactions, error messages, security breach attempts should get logged in log files somewhere on web server.

Believing in the laws of Shariah

Please consider it as an amicable sharing of Haqq (Truth) from the essence of brotherhood. This is important as it is directly concerning our Imaan (belief). As we find in the Qur’an:

[4:11] … Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

[65:12] It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them. [His] command descends among them so you may know that Allah is over all things competent and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge.

[3:54] And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.

[4:40] Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight;

Therefore, we must believe in the fact the Allah (AWJ) is –

  1. All Knowing
  2. Most Knowledgible
  3. Most Wise
  4. Best of Planner
  5. Extremely Just

According to Oxford dictionary, the word “belief” means – firm opinion, acceptance, trust or confidence etc. So now, if we believe in the above then it is irrelevant to think whether the law of death penalty (or chopping off hands for theft) enjoined by Allah (AWJ) is –

– correct or incorrect
– justified or unjust

It is also irrelevant to think of not supporting this particular law.

On the contrary, not supporting the law – is like – not believing that the law is the best or most justified one. So it becomes an act of Kufr (disbelief) as Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’an:

 [33:36] It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.

[4:65] But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
[40:4] No one disputes concerning the signs (Ayat) of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land.

[2:85] … So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
[45:11] This [Qur’an] is guidance. And those who have disbelieved in the verses of their Lord will have a painful punishment of foul nature.

In fact, the nature of the believer should be as the Qur’an says:

[6:82] They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice – those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided.

[24:51] The only statement of the [true] believers when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to judge between them is that they say, “We hear and we obey.” And those are the successful.

We may or may not understand the wisdom behind it (or may have question), as we dont have the knowledge of everything and the unseen. But we believe that there must be a good reasoning behind it, as it is from the One we believe the all Knowing and most Wise. Allah says in the Qur’an:

 [2:216] Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.

May Allah (SWT) grant us with undisputed belief and strengthen our Imaan, have mercy on us, forgive all our sins, and guide us to the right path with the knowledge of truth.
